Sports Complex Perimeter & Spectator Lighting

Thirty-two TR300-C solar street lights now ring the running track and spectator stands of a county sports complex in Kenya. Evening training sessions that used to end at sunset now run to 21:30, and the county cancelled its planned grid-extension quote after seeing the first month of operation.

The Brief

A county sports complex wanted to open its running track and football pitch for evening community training. The grounds department had one hard constraint: no budget for a grid connection, and no appetite for the monthly running cost that would follow it.

Their requirements:

  • Even perimeter lighting along roughly 600 meters of track and stands
  • No glare into the sightlines of the main stand
  • Operation every evening, 18:30 to 21:30, year-round

Our Solution

We specified the TR300-C — a higher-output all-in-one unit with a wide-beam lens suited to open grounds rather than narrow roads.

  • 32 poles placed outside the track fence line, angled inward to wash the track without touching the stands
  • Motion-sensor profiles tuned so the field runs at full output during booked sessions and dims to 30% overnight
  • Battery autonomy set for the long rains, when overcast days can stretch a full week

Numbers

  • 32 units installed in 5 days by the county’s own works team
  • Evening usage up 4x — the track now books 6 nights a week
  • Zero grid spend: the county dropped its grid-extension quotation entirely
  • Maintained illuminance on the running track: 15–18 lux
