The Brief
A six-vessel commercial fishing operator was still attracting its night catch with metal-halide arrays — hot-running, fragile, and hungry. Every night set meant the main generator running near full load just for the lamps, and the glass envelopes failed often enough that spare bulbs were a permanent line item.
The operator’s requirements:
- Direct retrofit onto existing mast and boom racks — no re-rigging
- Light field at least as strong as metal-halide for the crews working the surface
- Weight off the upper deck — the older boats rolled noticeably with the arrays lit high
- Payback inside two fishing seasons
Our Solution
The FL-1 LED fishing lamp was mapped one-for-one onto the existing rack positions of all six vessels.
- 40 lamps per vessel, replacing metal-halide units one-for-one on the same mounts
- Sealed, vibration-rated housings — no glass envelopes, no ballast units to fail
- Instant-strike output: crews can pulse the array for short sets without the warm-up tax
- Lower sustained generator load during night operations

- 240 lamps / 6 vessels retrofitted in 9 days alongside

- Fuel burn during night sets down enough that the operator calculates payback inside 14 months
