Rural Mountain Road Lighting — 180 Units

180 TR408-A all-in-one units installed along 14 km of rural hillside road connecting three village clusters to the district market town. A bucket-truck installation crew worked switchback by switchback; the system runs entirely off-grid through the winter dry season and monsoon.

The Brief

Three village clusters in a hill district shared one winding road to the district market town. After dark the road was effectively closed — buses stopped running, and two fatal accidents in as many years pushed the district office to act.

Constraints that shaped the design:

  • 14 km of road with no grid infrastructure along most of its length
  • Steep switchbacks requiring an articulated-lift installation crew
  • Monsoon reliability: lights must ride out week-long overcast stretches
  • Maintenance reach: the nearest technician is a full day’s drive away

Our Solution

The TR408-A all-in-one was chosen for exactly this profile — one SKU, one unit per pole, nothing to wire together on site.

  • 180 units at 30–35 m spacing through the populated stretches
  • Battery bank sized for 5 days of overcast autonomy
  • Helicopter-free logistics: all units packed on pallets deliverable by 4WD truck
  • Local electricians trained on-site during installation; spare-parts kit left with the district office

Numbers

  • 180 units / 14 km commissioned in 5 weeks
  • 100% uptime through the first monsoon season
  • Bus service extended by 2 evening departures
  • Reported night-time incidents on the road: zero since commissioning
