Lakeside Dock & Deck Post-Cap Lighting — 54 Units

54 solar post-cap lights installed along the dock railings, deck balustrades and stair newel posts of a private lakeside property. The units charge through short northern-summer days and hold the dock safe to walk after dark, all without a single meter of cable near the water.

The Brief

The property owner wanted the private dock and its connecting deck stairways safe to use after sunset — for family, and for guests arriving by boat. Running mains cable out over water was a non-starter: it would have needed armoured cable, an electrician specialising in waterfront installs, and permits for work near the lake.

Requirements:

  • Zero cabling on or near the dock structure
  • Light output tuned for safety, not floodlighting — the lakeshore mood matters
  • Fixtures that mount directly onto existing railing posts, no new carpentry

Our Solution

We specified the DZ-0808 solar post-cap — a compact unit sized to sit on standard 90–100 mm railing posts.

  • 54 units mapped post-by-post: dock perimeter, deck balustrade, and stair newel posts
  • Warm 2700K output with a downward-wash lens that lights the walking surface without spilling onto the water
  • High-capacity small-format battery to buffer the shorter charging days of the northern summer
  • Screw-fit mounting straight onto the existing timber posts

Numbers

  • 54 units installed in 2 days by the property’s own caretaker
  • 0 meters of cable added anywhere on the waterfront
  • Dock and stairways safe to walk year-round; units wake automatically at dusk
  • Two winters on, zero replacements required
